Food Services Manager

Camp Kadesh is seeking a new full time staff team member who loves camp ministry, has a passion for feeding people, and understands the important role food plays in a camp ministry program. The right candidate will have a history of creativity and excellence in food service, a passion for Christian camp ministry, be a joy filled follower of Jesus, and desire for working as part of a team.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working in cooperation with the full time staff, an ideal candidate will be a team player that will help our full time staff continue to grow Camp Kadesh as one of the best camps in Canada. The Food Services Manager serves an important role in providing food service leadership as an essential part of the overall camping ministry and mission of Camp Kadesh.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen budget creation and tracking, including menu planning, food ordering and receiving deliveries

  • Parent/group correspondence, incident reports, and other appropriate record keeping

  • Management of kitchen inventory, supplies and equipment

  • Hiring, training and oversight of seasonal staff working in the kitchen

  • Supervision of meal preparation, timely meal service, and clean up

  • Ensure proper food storage and daily sanitation

  • Responsible for coaching and coordination of staff and volunteer in training, food preparation, and general encouragement and support

  • Understanding the key role food service plays as part of the ministry and mission of Camp Kadesh

  • Facilitate or oversee accommodation of dietary concerns where possible and within budget limits

  • Generally ensure the kitchen and food meet all food standards and best practices

 Qualifications

  • Graduate of a food services related program or equivalent life/work experience

  • Knowledge of special diets such as, but not exclusively limited to: gluten free, vegetarian and hallal

  • Able to work in a team environment and independently

  • FoodSafe level 1 certified or willing to obtain FoodSafe Certification (or similar certification).

  • Standard computer skills. (MS Word & Excel, Online ordering programs and Google docs primarily)

  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver license (or equivalent)

  • Enjoy and connect well with people of all ages

  • Previous experience working in Christian camp ministry is preferred.

  • Previous management experience is an asset.

  • Mature Christian, able to agree with the Camp Kadesh statements of faith and values.

  • Agree to the Mission and Purpose of Camp Kadesh.

Compensation

The Food Services Manager position is a full-time position on site in Christopher Lake, SK. Salary and total compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation is $40,000 - $45,000 (A combination of salary ply supplied Housing or housing allowance) + Benefits package.  After one year, contributions to a pension plan (5% of salary).  Three weeks of starting vacation.  This salary position is set to average to 40 hour per week throughout the year, but compensation assumes that prime seasons will require more hours as required and reduced hours in seasons that are less busy.  Prime seasons are May, June, July and August.  This role would have housing included, but is also open to someone that is local and lives offsite.

This role is currently being posted as both a permanent role but also as a possible 4 months contract (May, June, July and August). We would be interested in talking to someone that would be looking for a shorter role, but will give priority to someone looking to fill the full time permanent role.
