Boat Driver

A Boat Driver is responsible for driving either our water sports or tubing boats for all skill activities and during free time each day. They will be responsible for daily set up and clean up of the waterfront area and maintenance of water sports and boat equipment. As a Program Team member, they will be required to participate in other program requirements such as participating in games or specialized programming.  Must be a minimum of 18 years of age, hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operators license, and have boat driving experience. Training for Camp Kadesh boat driving policies will be provided.

Organization

  • The Boat Driver works under the leadership of the Water Sports Coordinator alongside the Waterfront Coordinator secondarily.

  • Program Coordinators also play a role in giving direction to this position outside of boat driving responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit spiritual maturity and be a good Christian role model.

  • Must currently hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operating Licence and have significant experience driving boat and teaching water sports. Boat Drivers must have Camp Kadesh Boat Driving training (this can be acquired after being hired for the role).

  • Preferred candidates will have had at least one year of Camp Kadesh program or waterfront experience OR applicant should have significant program experience at another camp in program and waterfront areas.

  • Enjoy and connect well with people of all ages, especially youth and children.

  • Have a heart for camp ministry.

  • Be highly organized and motivated.

  • Willingness to be outdoors in all types of weather.

  • Able to work in a team environment and independently.

  • Outgoing and energetic personality an asset.

Expectations

  • Adhere to the Camp Kadesh Staff manual and the MPSM Code of Conduct.

  • Regular weekly planning meeting with the program team.

  • Contribute in a positive manner to the Kadesh community.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving a boat of the Kadesh water sports and tubing programs.

  • Training and coaching of staff on program implementation and skills.

  • Work closely with the Water Sports Coordinator, lifeguards, and other program staff to ensure the safety of staff and guests is maintained.

  • Enforce all rules and safety measures.

  • Be familiar with Camp Kadesh’s waterfront operations, as well as the Saskatchewan Camping Association and Transport Canada standards for practices and equipment (including safety, recreational, and boating equipment).

  • Respond and adapt programming to changes in weather.

  • Ensure timing of schedules in maintained.

  • Receive feedback from program staff in relation to program equipment.

  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure all equipment including boats are repaired and fully functional.

  • Daily inspections (or delegation of inspections) of all water sports equipment.

  • Lead program activities as assigned by the program coordinators.
