Worship Leader

The Worship Leader is responsible for organizing and leading worship for chapel times, campfires, and staff meetings each week. They are in charge of organizing and communicating with teams each week, picking songs and running practice times, and creating a framework for campers to understand what worship is and how to engage with it. 

When partnered with being a cabin staff, this position will also give leadership to a cabin. See Cabin Leader for more details. When partnered with being on the program team, this position will also help lead skills and participate in other program expressions. See Program Team Member for more details.  This position can be shared between two people.

Remuneration

  • The Worship Leader position is a 2 - 8 week position that is in partnership with being a cabin leader or on the program team.

  • Remuneration is based on whether this person is designated as a Junior or Senior in those fields.

Organization

  • The Worship Leader reports to the Leadership and Discipleship Director for that portion of their job responsibilities. They will be responsible to the Program Coordinators and Directors for the partnered portion of this role.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Exhibit spiritual maturity and be a good Christian role model.

  • Enjoy and connect well with people of all ages, especially youth and children.

  • Have a heart for having others experience the love, presence, and story of God through worship.

  • Have a broad understanding of musical theory and are able to give directions to many types of instruments and vocalists.

  • Be able to use online tools for organization and communication.

  • Post secondary Biblical studies is an asset.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Completed a camp leader in training (LIT) program or similar development program or experience.

  • Had previous in-cabin leadership experience.

  • Experience working with and leading children and youth.

  • Experience leading worship teams in the past.

Expectations

  • Adhere to the Camp Kadesh Staff manual and the MPSM Code of Conduct.

  • Be involved in staff meetings, leadership clusters, one-on-ones, and community groups.

  • Contribute in a positive manner to the Kadesh community.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and leading worship for chapel times, campfires, and staff meetings each week.

  • Creating a song bank that reflects our theme and the ministry philosophy of Camp Kadesh.

  • Organizing and communicating with teams each week, picking songs and running practice times.

  • Creating a framework for campers to understand what worship is and how to engage with it.

  • Working with the weekly speaker to know how to include music in response to their messages.

  • Communication with Media Coordinators with song orders and ensuring song slides are accurate.

  • Care for music equipment.

  • Give others the opportunity to try worship leading through mentorship.

  • Maintaining the responsibilities of whatever position this role is in partnership with cabin leading or being on the program team.

  • Other duties as assigned.
