Water Sports Coordinator
The Water Sports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the staff and maintenance in our water sports programming and be the main boat driver. They will be responsible for working with the Waterfront Coordinator for training waterfront staff, daily set up and clean up of the waterfront area, maintenance of water sports and boat equipment, and overseeing appropriate waterfront safety protocols and incident reports. They will work with the Camp Director on scheduling staff on waterfront skill activities. Must be a minimum of 18 year of age, hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operators license, and boat driving experience. Training for Camp Kadesh boat driving policies will be provided.
Remuneration
The Water Sports Coordinator position is an 8 week program position + paid training times.
Organization
The Water Sports Coordinator works with the Waterfront Coordinator and other Program Coordinators and reports directly to the Camp Director.
Qualifications:
Exhibit spiritual maturity and be a good Christian role model.
Hold a valid Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).
Preferred candidates will have had at least one year of Camp Kadesh water sports experience OR applicant should have significant program experience at another camp program running equivalent water sports programming.
Enjoy and connect well with people of all ages, especially youth and children.
Have a heart for camp ministry.
Be highly organized and motivated.
Willingness to be outdoors in all types of weather.
Able to work in a team environment and independently.
Saskatchewan Class 5 licence (or equivalent) an asset.
Expectations
Adhere to the Camp Kadesh Staff Manual and the MPSM Code of Conduct
Regular weekly planning meeting with the program team.
Be involved and take leadership roles in staff meetings, leadership clusters, one-on-ones, and camp community groups.
Contribute in a positive manner to the Kadesh greater community.
Facilitate and implement the Kadesh summer program in a positive and timely manner.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the coordinating of the Kadesh water sports and tubing programs.
Training and coaching of staff on program implementation and skills.
Work closely with the Director and other program staff to ensure the safety of staff and guests is maintained.
Enforce all rules and safety measures.
Be familiar with Camp Kadesh’s waterfront operations, as well as the Saskatchewan Camping Association and Lifesaving Society’s standards for practices and equipment (including safety, recreational, and boating equipment).
Respond and adapt programming to changes in weather.
Assist the Director in organizing and coordinating weekly program schedules.
Ensure timing of schedules in maintained.
Receive feedback from program staff in relation to program equipment.
Work with the maintenance team to ensure all equipment including boats are repaired and fully functional.
Daily inspections (or delegation of inspections) of all water sports equipment.
Communicating media needs with audio/video team when needed.
